Eighth in the WBFSH ranking of the world’s best dressage sires
In 2024, San Amour, like his sire Sandro Hit and his half brother on the paternal side Sir Donnerhall I before him, once again made it into the top ten of the world's best dressage sires. He was already ninth in 2020 and is now eighth. San Amour I owes this to his numerous offspring who compete internationally at high level, including West Side Story OLD/Estelle Wettstein/SUI, Olympic and European Championship participant, Ikke-Pia v/d Bergerhoeve/Lore Vandeborne/BEL, World and European Championship participant, Sound of Silence/Camille Carier Bergeron/CAN, team bronze medallist at the Pan-Am Games, the Nations Cup winners Addict de Massa/Anna Kasprzak/DEN and Scarlett/Anne Marie Hosbond/DEN, Jibraltar de Massa/Anne Sophie Serre/FRA, Soiree d’ Amour OLD/Carina Scholz/GER, Sandro D Amour/Olga Safronova/POL, Selfmade/Adriane Alvord/USA, Copernico/Aleksandra Poplawska/POL and Saphira Royal/Jemma Heran/AUS, who were placed in World Cup freestyles, and FBW Sunfire/Ann-Kathrin Lindner/GER, double U25 European Championships gold medallist and winner of the Piaff-Förderpreis. San Amour I’s offspring successes are completed by the Vice World Champion of young dressage horses Samoura M, the German Champion Saniola and the Vice German Champion Stern von Afrika OLD.
In Germany alone, over 50 of his sons have been licensed, including champion and premium stallions and the reigning Oldenburg Regional Champion Specter/Leonie Richter/GER. Over 220 of San Amour’s daughters have so far been awarded with the predicate state premium mare in different breeding regions, such as the Oldenburg Champion Mare, Calamity Jane, the Champion Mare of the Franz-Strahl-Schäfer Show in Baden-Württemberg (6y.o.), Sazou E, and the winner of the German Elite Mare Championships in Lienen, Santanyi, who is the dam of the German Champion Macadamja. He has also produced numerous auction highlights, such as the recent 300,000 euro top price Supernova at the 102nd Oldenburg Elite Auction.
San Amour I came third at the Oldenburg licensing in 2006, won the main premium in 2008 and was placed in the final of the German Championships in 2009 with Dr. Ulf Möller/GER. After that, he was predominantly used for breeding.
