Internationally successful in Grand Prix at only 8 years old
Team European champion!
Jovian is a high-flyer. After collecting his first Grand Prix wins with scores of over 80 percent he won team gold with Andreas Helgstrand/DEN at the 2023 Europeans as well as twelfth place in the individual European Championship special. The only reason he wasn’t eligible to compete in the final freestyle is that the country quota had been exceeded. In 2024, paired with Patrik Kittel/SWE, Jovian added top placings in Compiègne/FRA, Hagen and Aachen/GER to his track record. Jovian started his career in 2017 as the winner of the Dutch Championships for three-year-old riding horses. In 2018, he came top in his sport test in Verden with a score of 9.01. He was also singled out as a premium stallion at the Danish licensing and secured silver at the Dutch Pavo Cup. In 2019, he won gold at the Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses as a five-year-old, scoring a perfect 10 in four out of the five judging criteria. This was followed by silver at the Danish Championships. In 2021, he was crowned world champion of seven-year-old dressage horses (with 95.200 percent). The cancellation of the 2020 championships due to the COVID-19 pandemic prevented Jovian from defending his title in the six-year-old category and achieving a world championship hat trick.
More than ten foals in the first crop are licensed stallions, including premium stallions Joshua, Baunehøjens Jackson and Just Diamond, silver medal winner at the Oldenburg State Championships. Licensed stallion Jupiter BC was placed in the Bundeschampionat final. Jovian’s sport horse progeny include finalist at the Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses J’adore Dior H, silver medal winner at the Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses as a four-year-old, Josi ridden by Chiara Prijs Vitale/ITA, as well as Berlin-Brandenburg Champion and South German bronze winner Just the Best with Franziska Ehrich. His daughter Jolene qualified for the final ring at the Hanoverian Herwart von der Decken show, where Jovian's foals were already the talk of the town: Slangerupgaard's Josefine sold for the highest price of 72,000 euros at the Danish Elite Foal Auction and Jubilee qualified for the filly final ring at the Danish Foal Championships. Jovian also sired two finalists at the German Foal Championships in Lienen.
His sire Apache was KWPN reserve champion in 's-Hertogenbosch/NED and grand winner of the KWPN Stallion Competition Finals in 2011 and 2012. Apache was selected with his rider and trainer Emmelie Scholtens for the Dutch Olympic squad in 2015. In 2018, he was part of the Dutch team that came fifth at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon/USA. The following year he finished eighth in the World Cup Final in Gothenburg/SWE in 2019. Sadly, this highly sought-after stallion passed away unexpectedly in the same year. 28 licensed sons, including Indian Rock/Emmelie Scholtens/NED, Olympic team fouth and World Championships and European Championships fifth, and the champion maker Grand Galaxy Win. The most prominent of his sports horse offspring: Olympic individual and team bronze medal winner Gio with Charlotte Dujardin/GBR.
Apache’s dam Zinith was placed in young riding horse classes before becoming a broodmare. This full sister to Jovian produced the mare Idol, dam to licensed stallions Toto Gold/Nice Boy (by Toto Jr.) and Pride (v. Secret). Zinith also sired Friend (by Rousseau), a successful competition horse up to Grand Prix level, and was named elite dressage mare by the KWPN. Zinith is half-sister to the “ster” predicate mare Upshot (by Olivi), who descends from licensed stallion Astrix (by Obelisk), winner of the Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in 2010 and 2011 with Emmelie Scholtens/NED with placings up to Inter II level.
The grandsire Tango by Jazz is full brother to Diederik van Silfhout’s/NED Grand Prix horse Bonzanjo and also competed in the dressage arena with Hans Peter Minderhoud/NED. Two of his sons, Zardando and Zizi Top, were licensed.
Jovian's pedigree includes the valuable performance horse genes of impeccably-bred Landjonker (alias Frühling), Aram by Nimmerdor and top sire Lucky Boy xx.
