Independent is the figurehead of the Elfen line from Ewald Grotelüschen's successful breeding program and was already highly sought after as a foal. At his licensing in Vechta/GER, the brilliantly moving chestnut trotted into the premium ring to the applause of the breeders, as expected. He passed a highly rated stallion performance test in Denmark. He received a 9.0 for his canter, an 8.5 for his trot and capacity, and an 8.0 for his walk. Overall score: 833.5.

His sire, Asgard's Ibiza, won the small final at the 2018 World Breeding Dressage Championship for five-year-olds under Juliane Brunkhorst and ranked sixth in the final. Under Emmelie Scholtens/NED, he added successes in the international Small Tour. Thirty of his sons have been licensed.

Independent's full sister Ewald's Elfe won the filly class at the 2025 German Foal Championships. His half-brother Schatzmeister MZ OLD (by Secret) placed fifth with a score of 86.400 percent under Ann-Christin Wienkamp at the World Breeding Dressage Championship for six-year-olds in Verden/GER. His dam, Elfenperle OLD, won bronze at the Oldenburg Riding Horse Championships. She placed sixth at the Bundeschampionat for three-year-old mares and geldings.

Half-brother to Schatzmeister MZ OLD, who placed fifth at the World Breeding Dressage Championship for Young Horses
