Already at the qualifiers, the riders, and horses from Helgstrand Dressage dominated the arenas. And again, at the championship at Blue Hors, which took place last weekend, was it the equipages from Helgstrand Dressage and horses by our stallions who were at the top.

In the first rounds last Friday and Saturday – almost all the horses qualified for the finals. The finals took place on Sunday, and especially in the 4yo and 5yo classes, we had a lot of horses competing.

Andreas’ goal for the company has always been to have the best horses in Denmark as well as the rest of the world – which we can say to have proven again.

In the 4yo class, Thomas Sigtenbjerggaard and the breeding stallion, Kardieno, showed great perspective and submission and was a sure winner with a total score of 9,22.

Thomas and Kardieno were not the only one of our equipages in the 4yo class who did well. Also, Rikke Dupont with Nova, and certainly also Mette Sejbjerg Jensen with Kremlin MD, Nobelle, and Suarez were placed in the competition.

Helgstrand Dressage had 5 out of 11 placings in the 4yo class. Furthermore, 3 offspring by our lovely stallion Kastel's Grand Galaxy Win was placed.

Even though we greatly dominated the 4yo class, it was nothing compared to what happened in the 5yo class.

In the 5yo class, Helgstrand Dressage took all the placings from 1st to 7th, and also as number 11 in the class.

In this class, it was Andreas Helgstrand and the DWB gold medal mare, Queenparks Wendy, who won the class with a total score of 9,60. Close after them was 5yo World Champion the breeding stallion, Jovian, also with Andreas as his rider, who had a total score of 9,48. Thereafter was Severo Jurado Lopez and Springbank II VH, Cathrine Dufour and Straight Horse Don Zuan, Meike Lang and Elverhøjs Raccolto, Cathrine Dufour and Eternity 75, and Søren Wind and Joshua.

Helgstrand Dressage is known for being one of the leading training stables for young horses. Often, the horses are purchased very early, broken in, educated, shown to the public, and then sold before they become 6 yo and is ready for the bigger classes. It’s also the reason for the massive difference between the number of starting horses in the 4yo and 5yo, and the 6yo and 7yo.

In the 6yo class, we had 2 horses competing this year. Andreas Helgstrand and Revolution, and Mette Sejbjerg Jensen and Mio. Also, in this class were both equipages placed. And last year’s world champion and this year’s 2nd place at the WCYH, Revolution, showed his competitors no mercy and received no less than three 10’s and a total score of 9,6. It was an incredible ride, where Andreas and Revolution had a standing ovation while going down the last centerline.

Andreas Helgstrand and Revolution

In the 7yo class, Helgstrand Dressage also had two equipages ready to start. Severo Jurado Lopez with the double world champion, D’avie, and Meike Lang with the WCYH finalist, Icing for U.

With an oversensitive Icing for U, Meike Lang was just outside of the placings in a competition filled with great horses and riders.

As always it came down between the two world-class breeding stallions, Hesselhøj Donkey Boy and D’avie.

At the world championship, it was D’avie who was the better, but unfortunately at the DEF championship, it was Hesselhøj Donkey Boy who won by only a margin of 0,323%.

Severo Jurado Lopez and D'avie

- It is absolutely incredible what we’ve been able to achieve this season. 2 new world champions, one vice world champion, and now 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal at the DEF championships for young horses. I couldn’t be any prouder. Not only do I have some of the best young horses in the world in my stable, but I also have the best team of grooms and riders, says Andreas Helgstrand.

The new business award ”Succesvirksomhed 2019” is a tribute to successful companies, who’s created impressive financial results. The prize is awarded by Spar Nord and BDO, who are also behind the initiative.

The business award is a recognition of small and medium-sized companies, who in particular contributes to the commonwealth and growth in the local and national economy.

At Helgstrand Dressage we’re incredibly proud to have received the prestigious new award.

- It’s always a great honor to receive awards, though we’re especially proud and happy to receive business awards – where the comparison and selection happen across different professions. Therefore, it’s great to be recognized by Spar Nord and BDO for the work we do. I’m proud of Helgstrand Dressage, and not least the entire team behind, says Andreas Helgstrand.

In week 41, our riders and grooms will be busy once again at Blue Hors, where Helgstrand Dressage has no less than 28 horses qualified for the finals in various classes.

- We’re really looking forward to competing at Blue Hors with all the youngsters. This competition is one of the highlights of the year for us here at Helgstrand Dressage. Next year we hope to see a better standardization in the evaluation of the horses so that we’ll be able to see the absolute best young horses in the final. We really look forward to showing our great horses and riders to the audience, says Andreas Helgstrand.

Master rider Søren Vallentin has decided to resign on October 1st, and Helgstrand Dressage has hired Maria Anita Andersen as general manager and master rider at Helgstrand Academy.

Søren Vallentin who is working at Helgstrand Academy has decided to stop after 2 years at Helgstrand Dressage. Søren will continue to be employed at Helgstrand as a freelancer.

- It has been 2 exciting years at Helgstrand Dressage, where 2 days are never the same. Some of the things that have been best are the team spirit, talented equestrians, and good horses, says Søren Vallentin.

Maria Anita Andersen graduated as a master rider in 2006, where she was subsequently employed by Blue Hors, and after 8 years at Blue Hors, she started her own company in 2014. From 2017 until now, she has been employed by the Danish Equestrian Federation where she has been an instructor at their courses. Maria Anita Andersen will be responsible for the daily operations at Helgstrand Academy and will also be responsible for teaching and developing our horses and riders.

- I’m really looking forward to starting at Helgstrand Dressage and become a part of the team. I’m sure that I can contribute with my competences, while I can improve myself both professionally and personally, says Maria Anita Andersen.

- I have contacted Maria myself several times because I worked with her at Blue Hors and have always thought she was a fantastic rider and colleague. I have always wanted her to be a part of Helgstrand Dressage, so it is a great pleasure she will be a part of our team, says Andreas Helgstrand.

Maria Anita Andersen will start at Helgstrand Dressage as a general manager on October 1st.

With 3 amazing rides, young Alexander Helgstrand and his pony, Adriano B, won 3 gold medals at this year’s European Championships in dressage for ponies in Poland. The equipage delivered a hat trick, which must be the perfect end of Alexander's years as a pony-rider.

Last Wednesday, the team competition started early, and Denmark was placed second, after the team’s first two riders. Therefore, it was incredibly exciting and nerve-racking when the last to riders entered the arena last Thursday. After the team’s third rider it was made clear, that it would be Alexander’s ride which would determine if the team would win the gold, silver or bronze. Alexander was able to stay completely cool. Alexander and Adriano delivered an amazing performance, which was rewarded with a total score of 77,543%. Thereby, they secured the gold medal at the European Championships for the Danish team, for the first time in 33 years.

Last Friday, the individual classes started, and Alexander was amongst some of the first riders. Once again, the equipage had a great ride, which was rewarded with 78,216% and placed them at the top of the class. Saturday, the second half of the class took place, where the equipage managed to keep the lead. Thereby, the second gold medal at this year’s European championship was secured.

Sunday was the final day of the competition and only the 18 best equipages from the previous round were qualified. Alexander and Adriano danced their way through the program and exceeded the magical 80% when they got a final score of 82,140%. Thereby they wrote history for Danish riding, as the first equipage to have won 3 gold medals at the European championships in dressage for ponies.

Even though it was Alexander’s last big competition for ponies, it doesn’t mean that the young talent is done with riding. He has already started a couple of competitions for the Danish junior equestrian team with the horse, Grevens Sa’Va, with whom he won gold at the Nordic Championships for both team and individually in July.
